God – Bigger than your prayers! A mircale Story.

Every now and then God blows me away with His goodness… and His sense of humour.

Dear Partners, hopefully this update will encourage you to keep praying. I hope that you can also get a revelation of how God really can do much more than our we pray of even hope for… and give Him the Glory.

Ukrainian Prime Minister giving speech in -15 oC

Report: We waited patiently in extreme cold (-15 Celcius and strong wind) for more than an hour on Wednesday evening. Then the Ukrainian Prime Minister, Yulia Timoshenko, arrived and personally handed Yura (along with a couple dozen other locals) initial home ownership documents for a brand new 2-bed room apartment!

I really have no logical explanation for this unprecedented act.

Some facts for your consideration:

  • Presidential election campaigning is in full swing.  Yulia is one of the front runners.
  • The Ukrainian government ‘invested’ money to help complete certain residential highrise building projects hit by the global financial crisis. The apartments didn’t sell. Now 5800 apartments (I think) have been awarded to families throughout Ukraine this year.
  • In a carryover from Soviet times, Yura was something like 189th in line on a list to recieve an apartment in Kaharlyk.  Not one of the recipients believed for a minute that they’d be considered to receive free apartment.  (Those days were LONG gone!)
  • Ukraine ranks equal 146th out of 180 (along with Cameroon, Zimbawe, Russia) on the 2009 Corruption Persception Index.
  • Looking at the group of, it is my opinion that the right people got apartments. No bribes! This has a special savour about it. This is not how things happen in Ukraine.  May it not be the last time.

On Thursday, Yura invited me along to witness the first inspection as the construction forman unlocked the doors of their new property.  Everything was ready.  Move the furniture in and live.

Lord willing, over the next month or so contracts with utilities will be finalized, families will be able to move in.

Just a month ago. Yura & family didn’t have a liveable home. Now they have two!

I am again reminded that God is bigger and better than corruption and bureaucracy.  In our own experience, He has a poured of massive favour on us in real estate & property. I have a feeling that this is not the end!

Wow! Praise the Lord. Little query: why has Yura 2 liveable homes now?

Are you serious??!!! Wow!!! I don’t know what to say! I wish I could be there to give Yura and Oksana a huge hug and share their joy with them. Please, please tell them that I’m so excited for them and am wonderfully amazed at God’s goodness. Are they going to live there, or are they going to stay in their other apartment? Does two bedroom mean two room, or two bedroom with a lounge? I guess their other home is bigger. How finished is it? Have they been living there?
