Damage assessment, initial clean up

Thank you all some much for your prayers.  We have been greatly encouraged by the emails and messages received from all over the world. God is doing His work. We want that to continue to the max!

In the wake of the arsonist attack on the church, I’ve had to do a lot of paperwork and running around. We’ve been talking to the different government officials including the public prosecutors and Ukraine’s security service.

Now a couple weeks later, the police have no real suspects.  It could be local anarchists or it could be some an outside group called in to make a ‘hit’.  In any case we appeal to our King that His cause would be furthered. Since noone has been brought in we can only assume that the attacks can continue. We pray for protection and for God to be glorified.

One of the great outcomes has been the church’s response. We had a great initial clean up day.  We’ve already ordered a new window, we’ll need to dig out electrical wires for replacement and scrape off a few layers off the ceiling and cement in the hole in the floor.  The fire damage was evaluated at $3500 but volunteer hands will bring that figure down considerably.

We have enjoyed years of quiet and safety. Now we are going to implement steps to improve security and safety:

  • Improve lighting around the church building. $150
  • Rollers/protection screens for 10 windows on first floor $1500
  • Video surveillance and recording system ($7500)
  • individual fire alarms in each room ($500)
  • buiding a fence (hopefully next Spring) ($5000)

Please continue to pray.

  • Dear Wayne And Family

My prays are surely with you in this time of trails, I will sure remenber this event to our prayer group.
I just got post letter from SGA, Slavic Gospel Mission, And as you know they are mostly in Russia, And the Stan countries.
Between the new goverment and the Russian Ortodox church, A lot of thier churchs have been totaly burned down, And Pastors
with been put in jail, I used to send much mail to Russia, But of now none is allowed from USA.
I guess the USA & Russia is sort of going back to days of cold relations.
I was so glad for the ones who stood up to Russia in 2004 of Orange Revelution, And country was not split, as some wanted it to.
I know very well that Russia has implanted a lot of citzens in UKR, mostly in east, And the Rus hate the Ukr. But let God have his way.

Maybe I may see you this winter, As I plan to go to Russia if I get Visa
Your friend in Christ, Roger USA
